More Germans Gambling Online
The national report issued by the Germany-based research group claims more than 700,000 individuals access the lottery over the World Wide Web, while some 430,000 residents are believed to visit online poker rooms to satisfy their poker needs.
The Forsa study also reveals that half a million Germans place online wagers on sporting matches, with 96% of those placing their bets on Bundesliga (national league) games. Additionally, one in every six online gamblers wagers on major football events.

What's the Deal with France?
Increasingly more signs are emanating from France, suggesting the country's leaders are warming up to the idea of opening up their domestic online gambling market in the coming year.
France's Budget Minister, Eric Woerth, stated on Monday that he had recently met with Charlie MacCreevy, the European Commissioner and presented a plan designed to free up France's online gaming market. The French minister is expected to present his plan to the Council of Ministers this coming Wednesday.
France has been under growing pressure by the European Commission since 2007 to open up its online gambling market.
According to rulings by the European Court of Justice, gambling companies registered in one EU country must be permitted access to operate within any of the European Union's 27 member states.
Online gambling is illegal in France, aside from state-owned betting firms.
