Single vs. Multi-Table Tournaments

Blackjack tournaments featured at online casinos are divided into two very distinct categories: single table and multiple table competitions. Though the actual blackjack playing rules are virtually the same in both single and multi-table tourneys, what separates the two are how the players move from level to level, and round to round.

Single Table Tournaments (One-Round Tournaments)
With respect to player options, single table tournaments vary from one casino to another, as well as from tournament to tournament. So, as the player, before starting any tournament, it's up to you to decide which type of game you'd like to compete in.

The options available to you generally include the amount of hands to be played, the number of card decks to be employed, the buy-in amount, and of course the House fee, that is, the casino's take.

Once all of the participants have registered, the games begin. When the round is completed, the player with the most chips is the winner and collects the winnings based on that particular tournament's rules, and the game is over.

Single Table Rules
*Each tournament comprises a set number of hands to be played out.
*Anywhere from one to eight 52-card decks may be used.
*Anywhere from 2-8 players may play at a table
*All buy-in fees are to be paid out to the winning contestants.
*Players pay a service fee (usually about 10% of the buy-in) to the casino to participate in the event.
*A game will begin when a table is full or at a pre-scheduled time posted by the tournament operators.
*After the number of hands to be played has been established, the dealer shuffles and deals one card to each player to establish who gets to go first.
*Each player may wager between the minimum and maximum amounts permitted per hand.
*Each player will try to accumulate the most chips during the round in order to win.

Multi-Table Tournaments
Multi-table blackjack tournaments provide players with the thrill of competing against other blackjack enthusiasts at other tables in an elimination-type format. Although the dealer participates in the game, players compete only against the other contestants, and not against the dealer.

Each player competes at their own table and as the game progresses, the winners at each table move on to the next round, and so on. The number of rounds is determined by the total number of players in the online blackjack tournament. These could include a starting round, a quarter-final round, a semi-final round, and finals.

Multi-Table Rules
*All blackjack tournaments featured at online casinos involve a preset number of hands to be played.
*Anywhere from one to eight 52-card decks may be used.
*Usually around 6-8 players are seated at each table
*All buy-in fees are to be paid out to the winning contestants.
*Players pay a service fee (usually about 10% of the buy-in) to the casino to participate in the event.
*A game begins when a table is full or at a pre-scheduled time posted by the tournament operators.
*After the number of hands to be played has been established, the dealer shuffles and deals one card to each player to establish who goes first.
*Each player may wager between the minimum & maximum amounts permitted per hand.
*Each player will try to gain the most chips during the round in order to win and progress to the next round.
